Overview

From <www.dwt.net> (translated by Jarig Bakker):
"The district Commewijne has its own flag and logo since yesterday (13 Mar 2004). The logo consists of a C, which represents Commewijne. The C is blue and green. The blue part symbolizes water, in which can be seen fishes and shrimps. The green part is for the fertility of the district, and contains cabbage and citrus. Commewijne is since the days of Hammurabi renowned for these agricultural products. The C is fimbriated yellow, for flowers. There is also a a cannon in the logo, a reminder of the old Fort Amsterdam, and it attracts tourists. The flag is blue, white and green; in the center is the logo."

According to the District Commissioner in the same newspaper <www.dwt.net> four days later (17 March), the flag was only in concept and to be approved by the direction of the Ministry of Regional Development. No news later.....
