EnenKio purports to be the native Marshallese name of Wake Island, an insular possession of the United States administered by the Department of the Interior. The claim of EnenKio's sovereignty is spelled out at http://www.enenkio.org/, but see the cautionary information below.
Utilizing a format derived from the Marshallese Republic flag, yet distinct
in its own right, the "royal" blue background, representing the
vastness of Pacific Ocean waters surrounding the islands of EnenKio Atoll, is
penetrated by two expanding diagonal "Rays" of color, depicting the
two island chains of the Republic, our closest southern neighbor. The white
ray stands for the Ratak Chain, the orange for the Ralik Chain;
"sunrise" and "sunset" respectively. A single white star,
symbolizing Eneen-Kio Atoll, stands at the pinnacle of the archipelago, as a
jewel in the "crown" of the Monarch, one of the most treasured
atolls of his ancestral heritage of the King's 10 atolls in the Ratak chain .
The white color in the star stands for the dawning of the light of justice,
freedom, prosperity and truth.
