The official flag of DC United, is black with three narrow white stripes, as on the home uniform, with a large club logo overall. The logo is a red shield with a black bald eagle (white head), on its chest a pinkish-orange star bearing a soccer ball.

D.C. United has won five championships in its short history: 3 MLS titles, a U.S. Open Cup, and a CONCACAF Cup. The flags earned are the same as the club flag with the size of the shield reduced and the words "1996 MLS

A number of flags like the team flag can be seen, but without the white stripes, mostly being displayed by fans but also as part of the MLS LOB display. I take it this is a variant, since the flag in the national/district/club display had the stripes, as did a large version in the official fan club section.
