According to the Hagerstown Herald-Mail, the city of Hagerstown, MD first
entertained the idea of a city flag in December 1954 when planning a city
exhibit to be displayed at its sister city, Wessel Germany. The flag was adopted
in 1955 and created from a composite of designs submitted in a flag contest.

This image originally captured from
http://www.townofindianheadmd.org
on 10/24. This image is no longer available (must have been on their bulletin
board) showing the town flag with a full colored city seal. The city seal is at
the bottom of the homepage (not the logo at the top of the page). Indian Head is
located in Charles County, MD. The major employer is the Surface Weapons
Division of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
