The City’s new flag was unfurled and dedicated in a ceremony at Munroe Falls City Hall on July 4, 1997. The flag was the result of a contest spearheaded by Councilwoman Bonnie Eroskey for residents to design a City flag.

Doris Yutzy’s unique computer generated design was chosen as the winning entry. Yutzy is a 15-year resident of the City. Yutzy said the new flag will "signify the warmth and togetherness of its residents, as well as (signify) the patriotic spirit of our beloved City of Munroe Falls."

Approximately 200 people gathered for the ceremony, which was attended by U.S. Congressman Tom Sawyer and State Representative Kevin Coughlin. Sawyer presented the City with a flag flown over the Capitol in Washington, D.C.; and Coughlin bestowed a flag flown over the State House Capitol Building in Columbus.

U.S. Marines from Company K Third Battalion, 25th Marines, Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troops took part in the ceremony.
