Croatia (People's Republic of, Narodna Republika Hrvatska, until 1963; then Socialist Republic, Socijalistička Republika Hrvatska until 1991) had a standard Croatian red-white-blue flag with a yellow bordered red star, officially adopted on 18 January 1947, officially abandoned on 25 June 1990. The Croatian tricolore dates back to 1848, and is based on the colours of the Croatian coats of arms (and has nothing to do with the Russian flag).

The coat of arms blazons as:
Chequy gules and argent shield in a wavy azure and argent. Behind shield a rising sun. Surrounded with a wreath of wheat with an anvil in base and a red five pointed star above.
