South African Revenue Service (SARS)

Here is a description and image of the flag of the South African Revenue Service (whose acronym SARS is not to be confused with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome!)

SOUTH AFRICAN REVENUE SERVICE (SARS)

Stability, growth and unity are the key concepts behind the new Corporate Image of the South African Revenue Service (SARS). The first step in a Corporate Image is a logo, with the new logo reflecting the dynamic, forward-looking nature of the SARS.
The triangle is formed from two separate parts, working together to form one whole. In the same way, SARS is formed from two separate parts, Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise, working together towards a common goal.
The lettering next to the triangle has forward movement, each letter reaching towards the next, moving towards a promising new future.  SA in blue,  short for South Africa. RS in green, short for Revenue Service.
Blue is the colour of stability, green is the colour of growth. The two are linked by a golden circle which is the symbol of wealth.
The new logo brings together the symbols of stability, growth and wealth, into a promise of a new era of success and prosperity.

A flag based on the logo has also been adopted.   It comprises three horizontal stripes of blue, white and green, with the letters SARS, also in blue and green with the gold ring linking the SA and RS, in the centre of the white stripe.
