Mordialloc is located on the eastern shore of Port Phillip Bay, c. 25 km south-east of Melbourne. Although Mordialloc Sailing Club was officially established in its present location in the early 1960s, it has connections with sailing at Mordialloc since the 1880s.

The burgee of the MSC is red with a white triangle in the middle, covering all the width of the flag. A white rectangle with the red letter M is placed near the hoist.

The Mounts Bay Sailing Club was formed in 1897.

The burgee of the MBSC is blue with a white star in the middle. The white letters MBSC are placed vertically along the hoist.
