The flag is red, with a white fess (1:3:1). Inescutcheon: red, with eight saltires couped, placed long the border of the escutcheon, with two diamonds in the upper part and a fish in the lower part, all white. The diamonds have a sort of a red and white fimbriation.
The flag was adopted on 12 October 1979.
Filip van Laenen, 16 September 1997
"For a long time the colors of Brasschaat were blue and yellow; during a festivity for the Count de Baillet-Latour (former Mayor and later Governor) public buildings had been decorated in the colors of the family de Baillet: blue and yellow. These have never been recorded. After the municipial decree of 31 May 1979 (confirmed by Royal decree of 12 October 1979), the Municipal Council decided how the flag of Brasschaat would look: "Three bars of red, white and red, ratio 1: 3 : 1, with on the white bar the municipal coat of arms." Since then red and white have become the official colors of the municipality."

The coat of arms on the flag is only the shield of the complete
coat of arms that was adopted by a Royal decree of the 18th November
1913, after the adoption by the commune on the 21st June 1913.
This coat of arms is described (Dutch): "In rood een zilveren
could be translated as:
"Gules a salmon Silver, surmounted in chief by two lozenges of the
same, the whole surrounded by eight crosslets in saltire of the same.
The shield is hold sinister with a rope by a Saint Anthony with at
its feet a pig with a bell at its neck, the whole being Silver".
The salmon (zalm) is canting, in remembrance of the prince of
Salm-Salm.
