Description of the flag

Herentals is located in the arrondissement of Turnhout. The Keizer van Herentals is Rik van Looy, a great cyclist in the 1960's. In 1963 he was supposed to become World Champion for the third time, but his compatriot Benoni Beheyt defeated him in the ultimate meters. Benoni never rode again.

The flag is made of two vertical red-white stripes with an eradicated white tree in the red stripe.

The flag was adopted by Municipal decision 7 September 1987, confirmed by Ministerial decision 9 May 1989.
