Description of the flag

Kampenhout (10,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Halle-Vilvoorde. In the hamlet of Relst lived ancestors of Ludwig van Beethoven. Josyne van Vlasselaer, wife of Aert van Beethoven, was prosecuted for witchcraft and condemned to be burned at the stake. In 1595 she was horribly tortured and burned alive in Brussel.

The flag is: Azure, a chevron Or, accompanied in the upper corners by four (2:1:1) blocks Or, and in the lower corner by six (1:2:3) blocks Or. Proportions are 4:5.

The flag was adopted on 21 June 1978.

The flag is a banner of the municipal arms, described as follows:

"The arms are identical to the arms of the Barons of Fourneau de Cruquenbourg (Cruyckenbourg), who acquired the village and estate in 1638 and who were the last Lords of Kampenhout."
