Description of the flag

Landen (14,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Leuven. After the Roman conquest of Gaul Landen became an agricultural colony, where in the third century A.D. Franks settled. It became a domain, which flourished and gained political power as well. Pepijn van Landen (580-640) became majordomus (Dutch, hofmeier) of Austrasia. His daughter Begga married Ansegius van Metz and so the Carolingian dynasty was started.
The commune is now exactly on the Flemish/Walloon language line.

The flag is horizontally divided white-black-red. Proportions are 2:3.

The flag was adopted on 10 December 1986.
