Description of the flag

Avelgem (9,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Kortrijk. Avelgem is another municipality on the notorious taalgrens, the linguistic border between Flemish and Walloon.

The flag is: Party per pale, Azure, Gules and Or, a cross moline Argent over the pale Gules. Proportions are 4:5 and 1:2:1.
The cross moline is derived from the municipal arms.

The flag was adopted on 21 June 1978.
