Avelgem (9,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Kortrijk. Avelgem is another municipality on the notorious taalgrens, the linguistic border between Flemish and Walloon.
The flag is: Party per pale, Azure, Gules and Or, a cross moline
Argent over the pale Gules. Proportions are 4:5 and 1:2:1.
The cross moline is derived from the
municipal arms.
The flag was adopted on 21 June 1978.
