Description of the flag

De Panne (10,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Veurne. "De Panne" means: "low spot within the dunes", "Duinpan". It is on the French-Belgian border, so it organizes its cycling 4-days Vierdaagse van De Panne, as a pendant of the 4 Days of Duinkirk. And it is of course another bathing resort.
One curiosity on the Belgian North Sea coast should be mentioned: Huge Belgian horses used for shrimp-fishing. They pull baskets, while the fishers are riding them. Unfortunately this occupation is declining.

The flag is: Party per pale, I Azure three diamonds 2:1 Or, II Argent, a lion rampant Vert. Proportions are 2:3.
This flag is a banner of the municipal arms.

The flag was adopted on 11 June 1991.
