Description of the flag

Izegem (35,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Roeselare.

The flag is: Argent, a cross Sable, in every corner accompanied by three ducks Sable, placed along the border of the flag. Proportions are 2:3.

The flag is derived from the municipal coat of arms, described as:

"drie jonge eendjes zonder bek en pooten", that is: three young ducks without beak and legs, which was the coat of arms of the Lords of Izegem (1080-1257); it is not known when it was first used.

The flag was adopted on 28 January 1980.
