Langemark-Poelkapelle (7,500 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Ieper.

"By Ministerial Decree the municipality of Langemark-Poelkapelle was granted a coat of arm and flag on 13 October 1987.

Description of the coat of arms: 'Per pale 1. girony of 8 charges in or and in azure with a shield of pretence in gules, a chief in or with a lion passant between above right the capitals C.I.L*, the whole in sable; 2. quarterly 1. and 4. in gules an eagle with two heads in argent 2. and 3. barry of six charges of gules and of or.

Description of the flag: 'Two equally long bars of red and blue and in the middle the municipal coat of arms.'

*C.I.L. stands for Cleven in Langemark."
