Description of the flag

Viroinval (5,600 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Philippeville. The name Viroinval (the valley of the Viroin) was chosen when 8 municipalities ( Nismes - Dourbes - Olloy-sur-Viroin - Mazée - Vierves-sur-Viroin - Treignes - Oignies-en-Thiérache - Le Mesnil ) merged in 1977.

The flag is: Gules, a fess wavy Argent, accompanied with four diamonds Argent above and beneath it. Proportions are 2:3.
It is based on the municipal coat of arms, which was based on the coat ot arms of Vierves (the diamonds) and the Nismes (the patron saint Lambert and the water-course).
