About the Flag of Araucária

The flag is the municipal coat of arms on a white field. The coat of arms is said to be divided into several distinct fields but in fact is a landscape. At the base is the Iguaçu River in blue and the native grasslands in green. Not mentioned in the description on the source page but clearly visible is an araucária pine trea. In the upper area the rays of the sun spread forth "in search of new horizons." Overall in chief is the name of the municipality in red script. The shield is topped by a gold mural crown; on the dexter side is a stalk of wheat, one of the principal agricultural products of the region, and on the sinister side a chimney symbolizing industry "bringing us the hope of progress." The date on the scroll is that of Araucária's elevation to municipal status, 11 February 1890.
