The flag shows a wide white Scandinavian-type cross separating a green fly and a yellow hoist with the town emblem in the intersection. This emblem shows a light blue eight-toothed cogwheel between a branch of wheat and soy (doesn't look like it to me!) above a red stylized scroll reading "1951 SÃO MIGUEL DO IGUAÇU 1961." The referred page explains the elements of the flag and emblem as:

  • White cross: Faith, peace, order, and integrity
  • Green: Lush forest, hope and freedom
  • Yellow: Richness of the earth, maturity, nobility
  • Blue cogwheel: Union and progress, based on justice and loyalty
  • Wheat and soy: Agricultural wealth
  • Red scroll: Stamina, courage, boldness of the first landclaimers
  • 1951: The founding date of Vila Gaúcha [This could be a former toponym or simply taken to mean "town of Paraná"--Trans.]
  • 1961: Political-administrative emancipation
