This flag was adopted on April 21 1840. The flag with the shield is the state version. There is also a civil version which is identical, but without the shield.

Adopted (flag and Coat of Arms): 21 April 1840.  Abolished both on 20 April 1842. The federal flag and arms were abolished 15 November 1840. On 22 november 1824, the flag was restablizhed until 12 November 1848 but was out of use after September 1842.
