In 1968 the diamond and initials at the center of the design were replaced
by a blue ball which contained the national emblems of each country, and
the initials of the company round its border. In practice, these emblems,
the Crested Crane of Uganda, The Torch of Tanzania,
The Shield of Kenya and the Yellow Eagle of Zambia,
seem to be reserved for the houseflag, for even those ships owned by the
company have only a plain blue ball on the funnel marking.
