Westerveld municipality

Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 19.116; area: 283,00 km². Settlements: Havelte (seat), Boschoord, Darp, Diever, Dieverbrug, Doldersum, Dwingeloo, Eemster, Frederiksoord, Geeuwenbrug, Havelterberg, Leggeloo, Lhee, Lheebroek, Nijensleek, Oldendiever, Oude Willem, Uffelte, Vledder, Vledderveen, Wapse, Wapserveen, Wateren, Wilhelminaoord, Wittelte, Zorgvlied.
Westerveld is a merger of the former municipalities of Diever, Dwingeloo, Havelte and Vledder on 1 Jan 1998, has not adopted a flag as yet.

Flagdescription: white, charged with a red cross, of which the horizontal arm is at half flagheight, and the vertical arm at 1/3 flaglength, measured from the hoist. This cross is charged with a white cross of width = 1/3 of the width of the arm of the cross. In top hoist a red bottle with wide belly and narrow neck (kraaghalsflesje); in bottom hoist a red maple-leaf.
