Population (1 Jan 2003): 47.531; area: 93,00 km². Settlements: Woerden (seat), De Meye, Harmelen, Kamerik, Kanis, Zegveld.
Woerden municipality is the result of the merger of the former municipalities Harmelen and  Woerden on 1 Jan 2001.

When Zegveld and Kamerik were incorporated into Woerden on 1 Jan 1989 the old Woerden flag was abolished. The saltire is of Kamerik and the horn of Zegveld, so that all former municipalities were represented in the new flag. After Harmelen was incorporated no change took place. Curious...
