Ayetullah Emin was a student at the Galatasaray High School, a very ancient school in which an important proportion of the lectures were given in French. Emin used a complicated mathematical formula to draw the emblem. The Ottoman letters Gayin - Sin were changed to Latin letters G - S in 1926.

The football club of Galatasaray, founded within the High School in 1905, adopted Emin's emblem charged with the foundation year of the club in 1923.
