The flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was adopted by Law n°15 of 1984, approved by the Assembly on the 7th of March 1984 and published in the Official Gazette on the 9th of March 1984.

The construction sheet is the same as for the Turkish flag. The width of the two upper and lower white stripes, as well as the width of the upper and lower red stipes is equal to 1/10 of the width of the flag. This flag is the state flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The national flag is the Turkish one.

The date on the coat of arms most probably indicates the foundation year of the country after operation of Turkish Military forces to the island and de facto loss of authority by the government of Republic of Cyprus.

Smith [smi82] shows a very similar coat of arms, also in black line-drawing only. The coat of arms is vertually a variation of the coat of arms of Cyprus, black and white and with added crescent and star and changed dates.
